Nepal is one big adventure playground. It is just twice the size of Ireland and yet contains 8 of the world's 14 highest peaks including, ofcourse, Mount Everest. It is a diverse little country with an amazing history, rich in tradition.

Depart UK and fly to Kathmandu
On arrival in Kathmandu your tour leader will meet you at the airport and escort you to the private coach. At the hotel on the edge of the city there will be time to relax and freshen up after a long flight before meeting for lunch. There will be a full briefing, a run through the itinerary and a chance to ask questions before the group is whisked off on a cycle rickshaw tour of Kathmandu. The rickshaws will pass through some of the oldest parts of the city including Dubari Square and the bustling, narrow streets of Thamel before arriving at an authentic Nepalese restaurant. Today there will be a full day of sightseeing in the Kathmandu Valley. First your guide will take you to the beautiful city of Bhaktapur which contains some of the finest architecture in the whole of the Himalayan region. Traffic is not permitted inside the city making a walking tour an absolute delight. Next you will visit the Hindu temple at Pashupatinath and learn about the cremation ceremony which is performed day and night on the ghats beside the temple. Finally you will head back towards the capital and visit the famous Buddhist Stupa at Bodhnath, covered in colourful fluttering prayer flags. You can have lunch overlooking the stupa before heading back to Kathmandu. The rest of the afternoon will be free to relax. Overnight in Kathmandu (Hotel) Meals: breakfast
This morning the you will leave Kathmandu behind and head through beautiful Nepalese countryside to the city of Pokhara. Nestled in the foothills of the Himalayas Pokhara is simply stunning! There will be time to stretch your legs as you will be taken on a short orientation tour of the area before heading out for dinner at one of Pokhara's fantastic restaurants. Today we have included a full days trekking in the Himalayan foothills. The route takes in magnificent views of the mountains and yet is a manageable walk for all abilities. The trek will be led by experienced mountain guides as well as your tour leader. Overnight in Pokhara (Hotel) Meals: breakfast, packed lunch.
The tour gets more exciting still today as you leave Pokhara and follow the Seti River for the overnight camp, the jounrey travels through the pretty limestone valleys that give the river its name (Seti = white) the environment is perfect for natue lovers, particularly bird watchers. In the afternoon the group will arrive at the camp, situated in a cool forest clearing. If there is time the guides will take the group on a walk to the nearby villages.Overnight at camp (tents) Meals: breakfast, lunch, dinner.

After a good breakfast the group will help pack up camp and continue the journey dow the valley to Chitwan, the road will pass through dense jungle as the group enter the National Park. On arrival at the jungle lodge our expert naturalist guides will meet you all and give a quick tour of the lodge and its grounds. In the afternoon, there will be time for a guided walk through the Tharu villages to learn about the Tharu way of life, how the houses are built, what crops they grow, their culture and their beliefs. This morning you will travel down to the River Rapti by ox-cart, the ox cart ride provides work for the local farmers and is a fun way to travel cross country. You will then climb into dug-out canoes for a peaceful trip downstream, a guide will accompany each canoe to point out the wildlife and help to identify the various species. On the canoe trip you are likely to see an array of birds, monkeys and basking crocs!
The whole family will be looking forward to this morning's activity - an elephant safari in the jungle! The elephants are kitted out with a robust Howdah which comfortably carries four passengers. A mahout, or handler, will ride on the elephant's neck and guide the elephant through the forest trails in search of wildlife. The animals in the park have become used to seeing elephants complete with passengers and so are generally at easy allowing great viewing opportunities. The elephant safari lasts about one hour and there is a good chance of seeing rhino, monkeys, deer and crocodiles as well as plenty of birds. The afternoon is free, it is possible to visit the local school and maybe even have a game of football with the school kids. (donations of sports equipment and stationery is very much appreciated by the teachers) Overnight in Chitwan (Lodge) Meals: breakfast, lunch, dinner
Today you will leave the lowlands of Chitwan behind and head back to Kathmandu. The coach will stop for lunch at the scenic spot known as Manakamana, here there is a cable car which travels up the mountain-side where you can see the little Manakamana temple and have great views of the Terai region. The afternoon is free in Kathmandu and in the evening your tour leader will take the group to one of Kathmandu's finest restaurants for a slap-up farewell dinner. This morning you will be taken back to the international airport for the homebound flight. Your tour leader will accompany you to the airport to make sure everything runs smoothly. Meals: breakfast
