This action packed tour takes in the most famous sites such as the Pyramids, Egyptian Museum, Valley of the Kings and Karnak and combines them with outdoor adventure including desert safari, snorkelling and donkey trekking. Students will come home bursting with stories from their travels!

Day 1: Arrive Cairo

You will arrive in Cairo in the evening; your tour leader will meet you in the arrivals hall and assist you through immigration. The coach will then take the group to the hotel in Giza. Overnight in Giza. (Hotel) Meals: no meals included on day one.

Day 2: In Cairo

After a good nights rest and a hearty breakfast the group will drive the short distance to the incredible Pyramids of Giza. You will catch your first glimpse of these awesome tombs as the coach passes through the busy streets. Our Egyptologist guide will help to unravel the mysteries of Pyramids en-route to the site. There will be ample time to see all three Pyramids and even enter inside one of them before visiting the Sphinx. After a fantastic morning the group will return to the hotel for some free time. Your tour leader will use this opportunity to brief the group on the tour, travelling in Egypt and will even teach the students a few essential words of Arabic. In the evening we have included an authentic Egyptian meal at one of Cairo's famous restaurants. Overnight in Giza (Hotel) Meals: breakfast, lunch, dinner

Day 3: In Cairo

This morning the coach will drive the group to downtown Cairo. Our Egyptologist guide will accompany you again and give the group some information about this vast, sprawling city. Your destination this morning is the fabulous Egyptian Museum, literally crammed full of antiquities; it would take three months to look around this building if you were to spend three minutes looking at each item. Fortunately your guide will be there to take you to the best collections including the exquisite treasures taken from the tomb of King Tutankhamen; the tomb itself will be visited later in the tour. From here your tour leader will take the group into the heart of one of the Middle East's oldest and largest bazaars. Here you can take a simple lunch in one of the ancient coffee houses before a short walking tour through the labyrinth of tiny streets. Overnight in Giza (Hotel) Meals: breakfast

Day 4: Cairo - St Catherine's

This morning the group will leave Cairo and head towards the barren, mountainous desert of Sinai. En route your tour leader will explain some of the history of Egypt, there will also be a stop to see the famous Suez Canal. It is a long drive but the journey will be broken up with a stop at a beach resort for lunch. You will arrive in the pretty town of St Catherine's in the early evening. Here you will be staying at a fixed Bedouin camp; your Bedouin hosts will be waiting for you with a traditional meal laid out. The group will sit on rugs and cushions in true Bedouin style to eat dinner under the stars. Your host will tell the group some tales of Bedouin life before you all retire to bed. Overnight in St Catherine's (Bedouin Camp) Meals: breakfast, dinner

Day 5: St Catherine's - Dahab

Today the group will visit one of the most holy places on earth. It was Mount Sinai that Moses climbed and received the Ten Commandments from God. At the foot of the mountain is the beautiful St Catherine's monastery which was built on the site where God spoke to Moses by way of the burning bush. Your tour leader will give the group a guided tour of the monastery and the surrounding area including the steps of penance that wind up into the mountain.

The group will then set off to the lively seaside town of Dahab. Of all the resorts that have sprung up on the Red Sea coast Dahab is the one with the most character, it was built on the site of a Bedouin settlement and has a friendly village feel about it. After lunch competent swimmers can snorkel from the beach at the hotel. In the evening your tour leader will take the group into town, here they will meet the safari crew who will give them a full briefing about the next two days activities. After the briefing you can eat a seafood banquet at one of the delightful seaside restaurants. Overnight in Dahab (Hotel) Meals: breakfast, lunch

Day 6: Dahab - desert safari

The 4x4 jeeps will meet the group early and everyone will help load up. In convoy they will then head out into the Sinai desert, this desert safari is so much fun and the landscape is stunning. The jeeps will take the group to the Coloured Canyon and from here our Sinai guide will take the group, on foot, through the amazing wadis and gorges, explaining en-route something about the geology of the area and how these amazing land formations came into existence. After sometime the canyon opens out into desert and on the horizon an oasis can be seen. In this little oasis a Bedouin family await to serve the group lunch under the shade of the date palms. The drivers too will be waiting here to take the group onto the seaside camp in Ras Mohammed National Park.

On arrival at the camp the group can paddle, swim or snorkel off the beach before dinner is served. This evening's camp is set up like a Bedouin camp with one large communal tent with open sides. The group can either stay together in the tent or take their sleeping bags outside to sleep under the incredible starry sky. Overnight in the National Park (Camp) Meals: breakfast, lunch, dinner

Day 7: Safari - Sharm El Sheik - Hurghada

Today the group can explore the National Park in more depth. The jeeps will drive out to the visitors centre, the mangrove forests and the most southerly point of Sinai where both gulfs can be seen. You will then return to the camp for some free time and a final delicious lunch before packing up camp and heading to Sharm-El-Sheik. Here you will board the ferry that will cross the Red Sea to Hurghada. The coach will be waiting the other end to take the group the short distance to the hotel, your tour leader will take the group out for dinner at the near by beach cafe. Overnight in Hurghada (Hotel) Meals: breakfast, lunch

Day 8: In Hurghada

Today we have included a half day boat trip from the lovely coast in Safaga. The boat will drop anchor so that everyone can enjoy the warm waters and underwater delights. Fish identification charts will be provided so that the students can learn some of the hundreds of fish species that will be swimming literally under their noses. A qualified Dive Master will accompany the group on the boat trip to lead the strong swimmers on a 'guided snorkel' your tour leader will be on hand to help inexperienced swimmers to snorkel close to the boat. A delicious lunch will be served on board before the boat heads back to Safaga. The rest of the day is free to relax at the hotel. Overnight in Hurghada (Hotel) Meals: breakfast, lunch

Day 9: Hurghada - Luxor

This morning you will join the convoy to Luxor, on the way your tour leader will tell the group all about the history of ancient Thebes and the kings that ruled there. On arrival in Luxor the group can have lunch at the hotel before climbing into their caleshes (horse carriages) and trotting through the streets of Luxor to the incredible Karnak Temple. Our fantastic Luxor guide will meet the group at the entrance to the temple and guide them through the pillars, obelisks, statues and ancient corridors of the pharaohs. In the evening your tour leader will take you to a local restaurant for dinner. Overnight in Luxor (Hotel) Meals: breakfast, lunch

Day 10: In Luxor

Today you will cross onto Luxor’s West Bank, where your donkeys will be waiting for you. Donkey trekking through the arid mountains has to be the most exciting way to enter the Valley of the Kings, like the tomb raiders of ancient times. You will emerge dusty from the trek in a hidden corner of the valley well away from the main entrance and the tour coaches.

The pharaohs had learnt from previous experience that the grander your tomb looked from the outside, the more quickly it was looted. The new kingdom pharaohs therefore hid their tombs deep inside a secret valley. The tombs are beautifully painted and your guide will advise you as to which tombs are the best to enter. We have also included the entrance for Tutankhamen’s tomb. From the Valley of the Kings you will drive the short distance to the stunning temple of Queen Hatshepsut – the only female Pharaoh that ruled as a King. Finally we have included a trip to the nearby Worker’s Tombs, this site is not so famous and is not visited by many but we believe it is one of the highlights of Luxor. After lunch over-looking the Nile the group will cross back onto the East Bank.

There is a chance for the students to visit the Sunshine Orphanage this afternoon. This wonderful charity has been working hard for many years to try to give abandoned children the best possible start in life, they not only house and feed the orphans but also provide an education in the hopes that the boys can find work and the girls can find a husband and ultimately leave the orphanage and lead a normal and happy life. Clothes, toiletries, stationery are all gratefully received at the orphanage and the children would love to hear about your home country. If the students can spend a few hours here playing with the younger children and chatting to the older ones it will be very rewarding for everyone. Overnight in Luxor (Hotel) Meals: breakfast.

Day 11: In Luxor

The final day of the tour will be fairly laid back after an action packed journey. In the morning, after a leisurely breakfast, two splendid feluccas will take the group on a sailing trip down the Nile stopping at Banana Island; the students can have a paddle or try their hand at sailing before returning to Luxor. Walking back along the Corniche you can pop into the little mummification museum and marvel at the de-braining tools and other gruesome artefacts. After lunch your tour leader will take the group on a walking tour through the souk with free time to wander and barter with the market traders. In the evening there will be a farewell dinner complete with belly dancer! Overnight in Luxor (Hotel) Meals: breakfast, dinner.

Day 12: Tour ends

Today the tour ends and the coach will take the group to Luxor airport for the home bound flight. Meals: breakfast
