Safaris are loved by young and old, they provide adventure, excitement, education not to mention the sheer, over-whelming joy when you finally glimpse the animal that you had set out to see. Safaris are great for kids as there is never a dull day and there is always an expert ranger/guide on hand to answer the torrent of questions. This tour has been specifically designed with children in mind with family friendly hotels, fun excursions, short driving days and a great ground crew who will entertain and teach along the way. The hotels and lodges add a touch of luxury that will be appreciated by parents duing those few lazy hours between game drives.

Day 1: Depart Uk

Depart UK and fly to Nairobi

Day 2: Arrive Nairobi

On arrival in Nairobi, you will be met at the airport and taken to your hotel. Your tour leader will run through the tour itinerary and answer any questions. The rest of the day is free to enjoy the facilities at the hotel and relax after your journey. Overnight in Nairobi. (Safari Club) Meals: no meals included today.

Day 3: In Nairobi

Today you will have a full day in Nairobi. The children will love visiting the two sites we have included today. You will spend an hour or so at the Elephant Orphanage watching whilst the baby elephants are being fed and perhaps bathed by their handlers. The orphanage seeks to prepare the orphaned elephants for eventual re-introduction into the wild.

Next you will head to the Giraffe Centre. Expert guides will teach the kids all about giraffes and how to tell the different species apart (a skill they will be able to practice when on safari) if they are brave enough they can also try feeding them - did you know giraffes have blue tongues!

After a busy morning lunch will be served at the delightful ‘Karen Coffee Club’ The restaurant has a nice playground to entertain the children so that you can enjoy a relaxed meal. After lunch there is the option to visit the Karen Blixen Museum, her house and beautiful gardens are still exactly as they were during her time in Nairobi, excellent information boards guide you through the house and relate her incredible story.
Overnight in Nairobi (Safari Club) Meals: breakfast
Day 4: Nairobi - Lake Nakuru

This morning you will drive north from Nairobi to Lake Nakuru, one of the many lakes of the Great Rift Valley. This soda lake forms the centrepiece of the Lake Nakuru National Park and is famous for the thousands of pink flamingos which can be found here.

Our lodge is located inside the National Park and after lunch you will head out on a game drive. There is a chance of seeing buffalo, giraffe, waterbuck, rhinoceros and maybe even lion or leopard. Overnight in Nakuru (Lodge) Meals: breakfast, dinner
Day 5: Lake Nakuru - Lake Naivasha

This morning there will be an early game drive in the park. After breakfast you will continue the tour to Lake Naivasha, a drive of about two hours. The lake here is surrounded by shady acacia woodland and attracts a wide variety of birds and wildlife. In the afternoon you can take a guided boat ride out on the lake in search of hippo. The rest of the day is free to enjoy the pool at the hotel. Overnight in Naivasha (Lodge) Meals: breakfast, dinner

Day 6: Lake Naivasha - Masai Mara

This morning you will drive southwest to the Masai Mara Reserve, one of the most famous wildlife areas in Africa. This part of the country is particularly beautiful with rolling green plains and riverine woodlands. Amongst the huge diversity of species here are; black-maned lions, leopard, cheetah, wildebeest, zebra and Thompson’s Gazelle. As with all areas that we visit, the Mara is not a zoo and sightings of particular species cannot be guaranteed, but with three days here, the chances of seeing at least some of the ‘Big Five’ are good. Day 7: In the Masai Mara

Our lodge here is positioned just outside the reserve, the best time for game viewing is early - mid morning and from mid afternoon – sunset. Today there will be a morning game drive and in the afternoon there is a chance to walk to the nearby Masai villages and learn about the tribe and how they live.
