Depart London, overnight flight to Delhi.
On arrival at Delhi international airport a transfer will be provided to your hotel. Your tour leader will give you the low-down on travelling in India, run through the itinerary and answer any questions. In the afternoon you will have a half day of sightseeing in New Delhi to include the tomb of Moghul emperor Humayun, the Parliament buildings and the India Gate. In the evening your tour leader will take the group to one of Delhi's famous restaurants for a meal. Overnight in Delhi. (Hotel) Meals: no meals included on day two.
In the morning you will tour Old Delhi. A quick ride on the modern metro will bring you out at the Red Fort, from here you will travel in a more traditional way - on cycle rickshaw. The rickshaw wallahs will pedal you through the narrow streets and bazaars in the heart of the old city, through the famous Chandi Chowk to the largest mosque in India. From the mosque our coach will take you out of the city, stopping for a quick massalla lunch on the way, before continuing to Agra. It is a long drive to Agra though the roads are very good, the journey will give you the opportunity to relax and watch rural India from your window as you head south. Overnight in Agra. (Hotel) Meals: breakfast
Said to be the most beautiful monument ever built for love, the Taj Mahal took 22 years to build and was the work of 22,000 craftsmen. An early start allows you to see this incredible building at its best – at sunrise. After breakfast there will be some free time in Agra and a chance for some gem shopping before you leave for the immense Agra Fort which dominates the city. We will provide a guide at the Fort so that you can get the most out of your visit. Lastly we have also included a visit to the picturesque Baby Taj built by the wife of Emperor Jehangir for her father. Overnight in Agra. (Hotel) Meals: breakfast
This morning you will leave behind the city of the Taj and drive the short distance to the National Park at Bharatpur. In the afternoon you will arrive at the hotel in Bharatpur, a beautiful palace set in 2 acres of gardens just 1 km outside the National Park. After checking in your tour leader will take you inside the park, you will be arriving at the best time of day for viewing the bird life, the park is home to over 340 bird species including the rare Siberian crane. You may walk or cycle on the forest trails inside the park. Overnight in Bharatpur. (Hotel) Meals: breakfast, dinner
Today you will leave Bharatpur and head for Sariska, This beautiful National Park covers 800 sq km, it is larger than both Ranthambore and Banhavgarh but is far less well known and less visited despite its stunning scenery. Sarika has recently hit the headlines as the first National Park to recieve re-located tigers, these magnificent beasts were airlifted from Ranthambore in a ground breaking operation earlier this year. Other wildlife in the park includes hyena, jackal, leopard and sambar.
In the afternoon there will be a game drive in the National Park with an expert naturalist guide. The grand hotel that you will be staying in was once the hunting lodge of Maharaja Sawai Jai Singh and is set in beautiful grounds. Overnight Sariska. (Hotel) Meals: breakfast, dinner
Early in the morning you can enjoy another game drive in the park, in search of the elusive tiger, before returning to the hotel for a hearty breakfast. The palace and fort at Amber were once home to the Rajput warriors until, during a time of peace, Rajput ruler Jai Singh II built the city of Jaipur. Our expert local guide will take you on a tour of this incredible palace where you can marvel at the exquisite hall of mirrors. Overnight in Jaipur. (Hotel) Meals: breakfast
