The Palace on Wheels is the ultimate in luxury rail journeys. The train itself has sixteen period carriages, guest lounges and two restaurant carriages. The guest compartments are designed for two and are furnished in royal Rajput style with en-suit facilities. The trip takes its passengers to many of the wonderful sites in Northern India including the Taj Mahal, the Amber Palace and two of India’s finest National Parks . This is your chance to live like royalty and travel in the style of a Maharaja or Maharini. All meals whilst on board will be included as will all sightseeing with local guides.
Day 1: Depart London

Depart London and fly overnight to Delhi
Day 2: Arrive Delhi
On arrival in Delhi you will be met by a member of our team at the airport and taken to your hotel in the city centre. The rest of the day is free to relax after your journey or perhaps have a wander around the splendid Conaught Place or take dinner in one of Delhis superb restaurants. Overnight in Delhi (Hotel)
Day 3: Delhi - Jaipur
In the morning you can head out to see the sites of New Delhi, to include the famous India Gate, the Parliament buildings, the Moghul tomb of Emperor Humayun and the impressive minaret of Qutab Minar. In the afternoon you will drive to the train station to board the Palace on Wheels. Dinner will be served on-board and the train will set off for Jaipur. Overnight on the train.
Day 4: Jaipur - Jaisalmer
In the morning you will leave the train on an excursion to the magnificent Amber Palace. Overlooking the city of Jaipur, Amber was once home to the fearless warriors known as the Rajputs famed for their opulent palaces and extravagance. Lunch is served at the Rambagh Palace before a tour of the ‘pink city’ of Jaipur. In the evening dinner will be served on-board and the train will depart for Jaisalmer, in the heart of the Thar Desert. Overnight on the train.
Day 5: Jaisalmer - Jodhpur
In the morning you will have chance to explore the impressive Jaisalmer Fort, built from yellow sandstone this fort is a magnificent site. Lunch is served on-board before departing to the Sam Sand Dunes. One of the many highlights of the trip is trekking through the dunes on camel back. Dinner will be taken in Jaisalmer before heading back to the train and departing for Jodhpur. Overnight on the train.
Day 6: Jodhpur - Sawai Madhopur
The train arrives into Jodhpur station in the morning. Jodhpur is the second largest city in Rajistan, here you will visit the Jaswant Thada and Meherangarh Fort. Lunch will be taken at the Umaid Bhawan Palace, before departing to the train there is some free time here to relax or explore the Palace. In the evening the train departs for Sawai Madhopur. Overnight on the train.
Day 7: Ranthambore - Chittorgarh
On arrival at Sawai Madhopur station there will be a short drive to Ranthambore. Ranthambore National Park is one of the most famous National Parks in Asia and is home to a variety of wildlife including; langur, crocodile, jackal, sloth, bear, hyenas and around 42 tigers. You will have the opportunity to do a game drive inside this incredible park before returning to the train for lunch and departing to Chitthogarh. Late afternoon you can visit the hill-top fortress of Chittorgarh before returning to the train for dinner. Overnight on the train.
Day 8: Chitthorgarh - Udaipur
This morning there is a short drive from Chittorgarh to Udaipur – Rajistan’s most romantic city. The drive will be done by air-conditioned coach stopping on the way to visit the temples at Nagda. In Udaipur you will have lunch at the magical Lake Palace, beautifully situated in the waters of Lake Pichola. After lunch you will tour the incredible City Palace. In the evening you will return to Chitthogarh and board the train for dinner. Overnight on the train.
Day 9: Bharatpur - Fatephur Sikri - Agra
The train will arrive early at Bharatpur, this is one of the most famous birding spots in India. You will have chance to visit the Keoladeo National Park and see the thousands of migratory birds. From here you will continue to the ‘City of the Taj.’ On the way you will stop at the amazing ghost city of Fatephur Sikri built by Akbar the Great, this red sandstone city has been beautifully restored and has some of the finest architecture in the country. The Taj Mahal is said to be the most beautiful monument ever created for love. It took 22 years to build and is the work of 22,000 craftsmen. You will have time to visit this amazing mausoleum before continuing to Agra’s impressive Red Fort. In the evening you will board the train for the last journey to Delhi. Overnight on the train.
Day 10: In Delhi
You will arrive in Delhi early in the morning and a transfer will be provided to your hotel. Having had time to freshen up and take lunch, there is the opportunity to have a
rickshaw tour through the narrow streets and bazaars of Old Delhi. Overnight in Delhi. (Hotel)
Day 11: Tour ends
Today our tour ends in Delhi, depending on flight times there may be time for some additional sightseeing before we take you to the airport. Fly from Delhi airport.
